Wigs at Barnets Hair | Castle Road, Bedford

Barnets wig service

An important part of our salon is our personalised wig and hairpiece service. We are connected to the Bedford Hospital where they refer there patients to us, Whether a wig is needed for medical reasons such as alopecia or chemotherapy, to enhance confidence and well-being, or to bring a touch of glamour to life, we will help clients to choose and style a hairpiece.

Our ranges include Ellen Wille, Dening Hair, Rachel Welsh, Trendco and Dimples. We can arrange a consultation in two ways: at the salon, or if that is not possible for reasons of distance or health, we can come out to you.

First appointment: Wig consultation

Feel free to bring a friend or family member to support you and to offer a second opinion. Your appointment will start with an introduction to the different types of wigs, including synthetic and human hair and the benefits and drawbacks of both. The most important step in the consultation process is choosing the correct wig base to ensure a perfect fit which is also completely comfortable and secure.

Once the most suitable wig base has been chosen, we would then consider the hair texture, colour and style of wig which would most flatter your own skin tone and eyes. If at this stage you are ready to place an order, there is usually a 1-2 day delivery time for stock from the UK, or from 2-4 working days for products from overseas.

Second appointment: Wig cut and styling

No matter which wig you choose, we always recommend that you have it cut and styled so that it is perfectly tailored just for you. Wig cutting is a specialised skill and cannot be undertaken by hairdressers who have not been professionally trained to style wigs. Massimo & Emily have many years of experience in cutting and styling wigs and hairpieces, so you can be confident that you will be delighted with the result.

Once the wig has been cut and styled, we will show you the look from every angle to make sure you are perfectly happy and comfortable. We will then spend time showing you the correct way of placing and wearing your wig, and will practise with you so you are confident of managing on your own.

Before leaving, we will explain how to wash and care for your wig and wig liner, and show you some products that you would most benefit from. For all our first time wig buyers we always recommend our basic starter package which includes Wig Liner, Brush, Polyhead or Work Head (depending on wig type) and a soft cotton head wrap available in a selection of colours.
